| Why Hire a Remodeling Consultant?
By
definition a consultant, empowers one with information to assist that
individual to achieve satisfaction in having all questions answered
pertaining to that individuals needs so that they can make their
decision with confidence. It is my goal to accomplish this for you as a
third party, with no vested interest or commissions from any outside
individuals or companies.
Having
a consultant in your corner will save you money and aggravation. Most
remodeling projects are influenced by either a contractor or decorator.
The contractor has a group of subcontractors you will be introduced to
individually that require trust; in the remodeling business we call this
a loop. There are good loops and weak loops. Are you able to tell the
difference? Most people can't and it could cost them a lot of money if
they choose the wrong subs. Even if one subcontractor drops the ball it
will have a domino effect that will affect the entire project.
Time
is money; extended time is aggravation. For example, your kitchen
remodel is almost complete and you have been waiting patiently for
several months. During the installation of your cabinets, you discover
that the electrical wiring is incorrect and your cabinets cannot be
installed.
The electrician claims no one told him to install the outlet. You're
put in a position of the blame game. Soon you realize assigning blame
becomes fruitless. You bite the bullet; pay the extra amount to
facilitate the completion of the kitchen, hundreds of dollars lost, time
and aggravation added. This is one example of things that can go wrong
during a remodeling project; I know of over a hundred more! A decorator I
have found is the most likely person to cost you time and money. They
are for the most part well meaning and in some cases talented in design.
They are a referral network; they recommend people they are used to
working with. In most cases they add on 20% to all subcontractors bill.
For the most part they are easily intimidated by the contractors and are
forced to sell you on their needs, not costing them anything they fall
into a pattern that could cost you a small fortune. Decorators serve a
purpose, let them decorate.
There
are many layers to a remodeling project, some simple and some very
detailed. If I were able to share my experience with you I am confident
that I will save you money and aggravation. Who's looking out for you?
